My Trip to Ottawa 2014

It all started with my ride to Ottawa on VIA Rail. Can I tell you how much I like Business Class? Trips both there and back were wonderful. On the way there, I had a great time chatting with my neighbour. So much so, that I didn’t get much work done. I had a lactose free meal on both trips and it was quite good. Don’t resist the raspberry chocolate that they offer after your meal. I’d gotten up very early that morning with little sleep, so I did take a quick nap before arriving in Ottawa. Definitely helped.

I checked in at the Minto Suites Hotel and was treated like the Princess I am right from the start. I didn’t want for anything. I had the pool and whirlpool to myself for the time I was there. The room was extremely comfortable and well laid out. Could totally see myself in a small flat like that anywhere. I got a corner unit so it was very quiet and I had a window on two sides. In the morning, the sun shines right in the window over the table. I regret not taking any photos of the room itself, but my things were all over the place. When I (grudgingly) checked out, the front desk was busy. I wasn’t able to get a late check out, so I decided to pack and then grab breakfast. If there was time, I’d do a bit more sightseeing before catching my train home. Before I even got to the desk, I was asked if they could store my bag for a while. You read my mind.

I took a walk around the corner to have a late breakfast, which turned out to be lunch. WOW. Such a great lunch for the money. I could barely finish it because the serving size was so big. Pulled Pork wrap with fries. Awesomeness.

Took a walk over to the Parliament buildings and took a few shots there. Picked up some postcards and stamps then wrote them in the lobby before heading home on the train. Here are some of the shots I took. They should speak for themselves. Thanks to the weather for participating. Some of these were actually taken on the Friday after I arrived when I was on another mission. 😉
